Clubs may be able to purchase certain items tax exempt when those items are being used or consumed for the organization’s exempt purpose.
For Texas sales tax exemption purchases, you will typically need Page 2 of the Texas Sales and Use Tax Resale Certificate / Exemption Certification form.
Some stores may not accept this form and may ask you to complete their own tax exemption paperwork.
The form states that a tax exempt number is not required for the certificate to be valid.
If a store asks for a tax exempt number, you may provide your club’s EIN number.
Texas rules generally allow qualifying exempt organizations to sell taxable items exempt from sales tax for only two one-day sales or auctions per calendar year.
